Early Memory Loss Group
Tuesday, April 9, 2013
Well, Francesca and I co-led our first support group for people concerned about their memory. A surprising turn of events was that most came to learn how to treat others with memory loss respectfully. Three were elders who had friends with memory loss and one daughter who wanted to relate to her mother with dementia better. Interesting; we thought the group would be for people worried about their memory and instead it was for them to learn how to help friends and relatives with dementia. It was heart warming to listen to their concerns. So, in a way it turned out to be a caregiver group.
Maybe later as the group grows in familiarity and history we'll attract those with the memory loss, but for now, this is a good start. Both Francesca and I were happy with the group's beginning.
