Back Coaching and Loving it!
Monday, February 29, 2016
It has been almost a year (shame on me) since my last blog. I thought I had said it all and sloughed off. I have resumed seeing many new families caring for a family member with dementia. The need for education is still there. One can read books and go to seminars on dementia but until it is someone you love with the disorder it is all facts. Dementia care is relationship; building a new relationship with a changed person. The new trend is toward empowering personhood. I like that word, don't you? There are many ways to help a person with dementia live a fuller more pleasant life. So, I haven't said it all; I just have to say it again and again in different ways to fit the needs of the caregiver I'm working with.
