Team Meeting
Wednesday, January 21, 2015
This coming Saturday we are having a team meeting after a long hiatus (several months). I love these meetings; we exchange ideas on improvement of services we offer, we support one another and share success stories. We are having a lunch together at a local restaurant called The Links. It is always a great time reconnecting. Without this 'debriefing' if you will of work done alone, the coaches are not fulfilled as they are when we meet together.
I've always felt whenever a group works with a challenging population, be it in mental health, homecare, or coaching, a caregiver supportive team meeting regularly makes working with the population more joyous.
My husband and I recently spent 2 overnights at the Mt. Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. I noted how joyous people on the staff were, greeting us when passing in the great hall, and when serving us, were friendly, personable, smiling, and attentive. I should have asked if they have a support group!
I facilitate a support group; the members say it is the only place where everyone seems to appreciate how hard the work of caregiving is. If you don't attend on, join one.
